Research & Projects

My academic training in medicine, public health and informatics provides me a unique combination to design, develop, implement and evaluate human centered and contextually relevant informatics applications to enhance population health outcomes.

I have conceptualized a SMAART informatics framework that utilizes combined principles of Social Cognitive Theory, Human centered deign, Information processing theory to develop Sustainable, Multisector, Accessible, Affordable, Reimbursable, and Tailored technology enabled solutions to address population health challenges of the 21st century.

I have conducted population health informatics research across US, India, Nigeria, Haiti, Egypt and Brazil funded by Federal agencies including NIH, AHRQ, US Department of Veteran Affairs, Fulbright, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Ministry of Health Brazil, Indian Council of Medical Research, Government of India, New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and New York State AIDS Society and other private foundations and industry.

“I call my platform and research ‘SMAART’: Sustainable, Multisectoral, Accessible, Affordable, Reimbursable, Tailored,”
“The health of the population has many contributing factors.
For instance, if someone is not financially independent or not able to afford health solutions, how can they maintain their health?
All my research is built around creating culturally adaptive material that allows communities to modify their behavior while keeping their social circumstances in mind.”
